Campfire Bacon Cinnamon Rolls
Impress your fellow campers on your next trip by making Bacon Cinnamon Rolls in a pie iron. This sweet and savory pastry is fun and easy to make.

One of our favorite things about camping is the food. Everything tastes better made over the campfire. Breakfast is no exception to this.
Our Giant Cinnamon Roll is fun to make using refrigerated cinnamon rolls, but instead of serving it with a side of bacon, we decided to put the bacon inside the rolls.
Camping Bacon Cinnamon Rolls
This simple recipe requires the following:
- a can of refrigerated cinnamon rolls
- bacon
- parchment paper
- a cast iron pie iron

Follow these steps to make the bacon cinnamon rolls:
- Get a campfire going to the point where there are cooking coals.
- Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate each roll. Set the icing aside.
- Unroll a roll of pastry and lay a piece of bacon on it.
- Slowly roll the cinnamon roll back up, ensuring the bacon stays inside.
- Cut parchment pieces to fit inside your pie iron.
- Put the roll between the parchment paper and place it inside the pie iron. Close and clip the iron.
- Cook the roll in the pie iron over the hot coals of the campfire for 8-12 minutes per side.
- Carefully check the cinnamon roll in the pie iron to see if it’s baked through. Bake for longer if needed.
- Remove the bacon roll and drizzle icing on it.

We put the first cinnamon roll we made on the fire’s coals and used our usual sniff test to check if it was done. Suddenly, we smelled burnt cinnamon and opened the pie iron to find a black and charred spiral. It was evident that the fire was too hot!
Enjoy these rolls with eggs for breakfast or as a camping snack.
Home Directions: Place bacon rolls in a pan and bake according to package instructions. Add extra time, if needed, for bacon to cook through.
