Create Pizza Monkey Bread in your Dutch oven. This camping recipe is easy and fun to make. Your family will love it!
Since pizza is one of everyone’s favorite foods, we have created many different Camping Pizza Recipes over the years. Our most popular is our Campfire Pizza Sandwiches.
This recipe is similar to our traditional Dutch Oven Pizza but uses a different type of dough.
Dutch Oven Pizza Monkey Bread
This recipe uses refrigerated biscuit dough, olive oil, Italian seasoning, pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and desired toppings. We made ours with pepperoni.
We like to prep the dough for this recipe about an hour or two ahead of time, giving it time to rise.
Open the tubes of biscuit dough and make crisscross cuts in each, dividing them in fourths.
Place all of the cut dough pieces into a large zippered plastic bag. Add olive oil and Italian seasoning and shake until evenly coated. Set aside to rise.
While the biscuit pieces are sitting, prepare at least 20 pieces of charcoal for the Dutch oven. We like to use a charcoal chimney.
*DO tip: Liners
Assemble the Pizza
Dump the dough into the bottom of the lined Dutch oven. Pour the pizza sauce on top. Stir to incorporate the sauce in with the dough.
Stir in the shredded cheese. If you want to add pizza toppings, put them on top or dice them up to go between the pieces.
Cover the oven. Place eight coals underneath and 12 pieces on the lid.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Time to Eat!
The family will enjoy eating this pull-apart pizza. It is fun to pull off pieces and pop them into your mouth.
Pizza lovers will also enjoy cooking Frozen Pizza over the Campfire. They can also use leftover buns to create these Grilled Pizza Buns.
