Dessert Pudgy Pie Recipes
When I was a scout, we made pudgy pies in a pie iron over a campfire. It was one of my favorite things to eat while camping. Most things have stayed the same.
You have been missing out if you have yet to discover all the great things you can cook in a pudgy pie maker. We have several easy pie-iron recipes.

How to Make a Pudgie Pie
The directions for each of these camping pies are the same. Just change the filling.
- Prepare the campfire to have cooking coals.
- Spray or line your pie iron.
- Butter the outside of two pieces of bread. (I like to use spray butter.)
- Place the bread in the pie iron with the buttered side to the metal.
- Add fillings to one side.
- Close the pie iron, ensuring any liquid ingredients are on the bottom.
- Cook over the hot coals for 2 to 6 minutes or until evenly toasted.
- Carefully open the dessert sandwich and test for doneness.
- Close and cook longer if needed.
- Don’t burn your mouth!

Cherry Peach Pudgy Pie

Put pie filling and caramel on the bottom bread before closing the pie iron. Add caramel to the outside of the dessert after it has cooked.

Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Sandwiches

This one is my favorite!! Peanut butter with banana on one side and chocolate frosting on the other.

Almond Joy Pudgy Pies
Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes, you don’t!

Put some chocolate frosting on the bread and add coconut. Include almonds if you want. – Almond Joy’s got nuts; mounds don’t!

Instructions
- Light a campfire and give it time to create some good cooking coals.
- Spray or line both sides of your pie iron with parchment paper.
- Butter or spray the outside of two pieces of bread.
- Place the bread piece on each side of the pie iron with the buttered sides toward the iron.
- Add fillings to one or both sides.*see notes below
- Close the pie iron.
- Cook over hot coals for 2 to 6 minutes.
- Carefully open the sandwich maker and check the pie.
- Reclose and cook longer if needed.
- Enjoy, but do not burn your mouth!
