Tin Can Tourists Vintage Camper Rally

Do you love seeing vintage campers? Check out a Tin Can Tourists Rally near you.

The Tin Can Tourists is a vintage trailer and motor coach club founded in 1919 in Tampa, Florida. The club is dedicated to preserving and promoting vintage trailers and motor coaches, and it has members across the United States and Canada.

The club’s name comes from the early days of camping when people often used canned food containers to cook and eat meals. Today, the Tin Can Tourists organize rallies and events for vintage trailer enthusiasts, offering a chance to share their love of camping and the great outdoors with others who share their passion.

Attend a Tin Can Tourists Rally

Vintage camper rallies take place throughout the year across America. These gatherings include social activities for the members and an open house for everyone to enjoy.

Tin Can Tourist rallies offer a unique and unforgettable experience. Everywhere you look, you will see vintage campers of every shape and size, each with its unique charm and character.

Attending one will give you a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time. Many campers are restored to their former glory with retro appliances and decor.

You will feel like you have stepped back to the 1950s and 60s when camping was about spending time with family and friends, enjoying the great outdoors, and making memories that would last a lifetime.

These rallies have a strong sense of community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, eager to share their love of vintage campers and camping. People from all walks of life, from families with young children to retirees, have been camping for decades.

The highlight of each rally is the open house, where campers can show off their vintage rigs and chat with other enthusiasts. It is fantastic to see the creativity and craftsmanship that went into restoring these campers and to hear the stories behind each one.

Most of these open houses are open to the public, although I encourage you to camp for the whole experience. You do not have to own a vintage camper to be a member of Tin Can Tourists. You just need an enthusiasm for classic campers.

West Michigan Vintage Rally

Tin Can Tourists gather at PJ Hoffmaster State Park in Michigan each June for the West Michigan Vintage Rally. The weekend includes social activities like s’mores, coffee and donuts, potlucks, and tales around the campfire. The weekend’s highlight is the Saturday open house, followed by a parade of vintage tow vehicles throughout the campground.

We were the campground hosts when this rally took place around us last year. Chatting with owners and seeing their recreation vehicles was a fun experience. We took many pictures and interviewed two owners.

We felt grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful community. The Tin Can Tourists Vintage Camper Rally was a reminder that camping isn’t just about the destination – the journey, the people you meet along the way, and the memories you make.

We loved it so much that we will drive to Michigan in June to attend this year’s rally. We look forward to seeing more vehicles and reconnecting with members of Tin Can Tourists.
