Make this delicious Dutch Oven Salisbury Steak with Cream of Mushroom Soup on your next camping trip.
We love to eat! Food made out at the campsite is among our favorites. We have our favorite camping recipes, such as this Dutch Oven Chicken & Veggies or Kielbasa Cabbage Skillet.
Grilling at home is another preferred way to prepare our food. We love these Skirt Steak Tacos or Smothered Round Steak.
Now, we have a new recipe to add to our favorites. This hearty oven-baked Salisbury Steak one-pot meal was so good with Dutch Oven Bread. Even our daughter loved the mushroom gravy in this dish.
We kept soaking our bread in the mushroom gravy. It was fantastic! We are going to use the gravy in this recipe at Thanksgiving.
Dutch Oven Salisbury Steak Recipe
If you have read many of our posts, you know that we like simple things. This includes recipes. We are always trying to find an easier way to make things. Outside of mixing up the steak patties, this is such an easy recipe.
We used carrots and tiny new potatoes, which we have included in the recipe below. This recipe can be adapted to include the vegetables of your choice. Do not skip the mushrooms, though!
We have never been big fans of this meal, but this Dutch Oven Salisbury Steak has changed that. We look forward to making it in our enamel Dutch oven at home.

Create this hearty one-pot meal on your next camping trip or at home in an enamel Dutch oven.
Ingredients
Patties
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 teaspoon minced onion
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons Worchester sauce
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon ketchup
Gravy
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can of water
- 1 package brown gravy mix
- 1 package onion soup mix
Vegetables
- 2 cups baby carrots
- 3 cups new potatoes
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
Instructions
- Light 20+ pieces of charcoal in a charcoal chimney.
- Mix the patty ingredients together.
- Form 6 large patties with the meat mixture and set aside.
- Mix the soup, water, gravy mix, and onion soup mix to create the gravy. It will be lumpy!
- Place 8 prepared coals under the Dutch oven.
- Brown each side of the patties in the bottom of the Dutch oven. We did this in two rounds of three.
- Place the carrots in the bottom of the Dutch oven.
- Layer the potatoes on top of the carrots.
- Put the mushrooms over the potatoes.
- Lay the steak patties on top of the vegetables.
- Pour the gravy over the meat.
- Place the lid on the Dutch oven.
- Place coals on the lid. We used around 12 coals underneath and on top, but we had two ovens stacked on each other, so we needed extra warmth.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour.
Notes
We used almond flour instead of bread crumbs when we made this to reduce carbs a little bit.

Could you prep the meat beforehand at home and then cook when camping?

Would you cook this the same length of time in your oven? What temp? Looks so good and I really want to try it. Thanks

I would go for 375 degrees for the same amount of time.
